January 2006 Certification Match

DFW Tracking Club held its first Certification Match on Sunday January 15, 2006.  The day dawned cool and overcast, a beautiful day for tracking.  With a full test, many participants lined the parking lot of the American Airlines Credit Union, waiting to see what track they would draw.

T1 went to a young Golden named Mandy and handled by club member David Bull.  Mandy took off strong and made it to the 2nd turn where the puppy in her took over and she had to investigate the trash, pants (yes there were pants in the field...) and other distractions.  As you can see from the pictures, we will soon see her in a test.
T2 went to another young Golden named Red and handled by club member Benita Zapata.  Red fell victim to puppy antics too and got distracted.  We will soon see him in a test though.

T3 went to a more mature Golden named Shaq and handled by Karen Couch.  This team took a break from the Obedience and Rally rings to "play" in the fields.  You can tell this dog really enjoys tracking as he pulls his handler swiftly down the track and retrieves his glove in typical retriever fashion!

T4 went to an Oklahoma Labrador named Boomer, handled by club member Cindy Morrow.  This dog started strong and went straight to a pole to investigate, after being coaxed by his handler to "leave it" he went back to work and quickly sped down the track to the 2nd turn where he had to really convince his handler the track went that way.  After that brief stall he made quick time to the third turn and onto the glove.  You can see the excitement in his handler's face as she turns to show the judges he found it!

By the way, Boomer says Happy Birthday to his mom and what a good birthday present it was!

T5 went to another Golden named Raider and handled by club member Benita Zapata.  He had trouble at the first turn, but finished the track with help from the track layer.

T6 went to a Basset Hound named Macaroni and was handled by Harriet Richman.  This team tracked strong straight to the glove, despite nervous words from his handler at the beginning of the day.  What a cute indication on this dog.  He stood there tail wagging 90 to nothing and then sat, tail still going strong.

T7 went to our farthest traveler a Golden from Louisiana named Lillian and handled by Karen Runnels.  Lillian did her owners proud, showing that old girls could hang with these younger dogs!  She was steady and true straight on to the glove even in the wind.

By the way, Lillian says Happy Birthday to her dad, and what a good birthday present it was!

T8 went to a German Shepherd Dog named Willie and was handled by Karen Cook.  This dog has overcome great obstacles to find a sport both him and his handler enjoy.  Although the crowd proved to be too much for his nerves, he will soon be seen in a test.

T9 went to a spunky little Toy Fox Terrier named Rowdy and was handled by club member Monica Becherer.  Rowdy who besides being the cutest dog out there and such a ham he was, sped down the track in little terrier style checking out all the critters along the way.  One cannot help but to be tickled by this dog's indication, he was bouncing on the glove, as to say "It's here, It's here!" as the crowd cheered!
